Course Information

Since it first launched its new edition GCC contract, the GCC drafting committee launched its second edition early in June 2010. The GCC 2010 contract will be familiar to those used to the 2004 edition but includes some interesting innovations including:

  • The contract is suitable for use in disciplines other than civil engineering. The new contract is suitable for building works, civil engineering works and electrical and mechanical works. GCC has recognised that multidisciplinary projects are often best served by a multi-disciplinary contract;
  • The contract is suitable for employer designed and contractor designed works;
  • GCC2010 is likely to appear with some revisions in 2014, and the course will deal with the expected changes.

BCA envisages that the wider ambit of the new GCC will mean increased take up of this contract. Contractors and clients from the building environment who in the past would not have looked to GCC may now consider it for their building projects. Those looking for a local contract for multi-disciplinary projects will also look to the new GCC. If you work in the building environment and have never considered GCC, now is the time to look to it as a sound local contract for building works.

To assist using GCC in a combined engineering and building project, BCA have drafted a comprehensive and compatible GCC Subcontract document for the SAICE. Delegates will be introduced to the Subcontract and shows its main features.
